15,000 South Lanarkshire Council workers’ personal details and their income were accidentally posted online, extracted from their payroll system, in April of 2023, according to the BBC NEWS report.
The data leak involved details such as names, places of employment, National Insurance numbers and salaries.
Ude Adigwe, GMB (trade union) organiser, said, “This is a very concerning incident and poses serious questions about the council’s data management processes. Staff deserve more than a simple assurance from the council that policies and procedures have been tightened.”
Businesses are moving their mission-critical systems (such as their payroll system) to the next-generation Dynamics 365 Business Central in the cloud. Why?
Unbreakable security safeguards your business data.
Security is a top concern for businesses when it comes to managing sensitive data such as payroll information. Dynamics 365 Business Central, hosted on Microsoft Azure, provides a robust security infrastructure that is renowned for its reliability. With stringent safeguards and compliance measures, Azure is trusted by organisations, including the American government. By migrating to Business Central, businesses can rest assured that their critical payroll data is stored securely, minimising the risk of unauthorized access or data breaches.
Continuous updates ensure you have the latest features as they come out.
Technology advancements occur at a rapid pace, and businesses need to stay up-to-date with the latest features and capabilities to remain competitive. Dynamics 365 Business Central, being a cloud-based solution, receives regular monthly updates. This ensures that businesses have prompt access to the newest functionalities developed by Microsoft. By migrating their mission-critical systems to Business Central, organisations can enjoy continuous enhancements and leverage cutting-edge tools and features as soon as they are released.
Seamless integration allows you to expand without limit.
The integration functionalities of Business Central have been upgraded along with all the rest of its features. Going beyond simply addressing issues with operational silos, Dynamics 365’s flagship ERP solution seamlessly integrates with both Microsoft and third-party apps. So you can set up a comprehensive network of software modules from the start.
As businesses grow and expand, their operational needs evolve. Traditional on-premises payroll systems often struggle to accommodate these changes, leading to limitations and inefficiencies. Dynamics 365 Business Central, on the other hand, offers unparalleled scalability and flexibility. By migrating to the cloud, businesses can easily scale their payroll system to meet growing demands. The cloud-based infrastructure eliminates the need for costly hardware upgrades and provides the freedom to adjust resources according to the organisation’s requirements.
The migration of mission-critical systems, such as payroll, to Dynamics 365 Business Central in the cloud offers numerous advantages for businesses. From enhanced security and continuous updates to seamless integration and improved scalability, the benefits are compelling. By embracing this next-generation solution, organisations can streamline their operations, drive efficiency, and stay ahead in today’s dynamic business environment with their payroll system.
